What is it? In this podcast, the host, Julie Battisti, talks to Lissy and Rudi Robinson-Cole, a creative duo from Aotearoa New Zealand. Through their love of crochet, they celebrate living life to the fullest, and reconnecting with ancestors. In this particular episode, they talk about the Wharenui Harikoa (House of Joy), a large scale crocheted Wharenui (meeting house) Why do I recommend it?
Firstly, I love Lissy and Rudi's work and the beautiful energy they put out into the world. The content they share via their social media is full of joy and it is positively contagious! But mostly, I loved hearing about how their love of crochet. They see crochet as a something universal, that transcends all cultures, and therefore creates a space for connection: connection to each other, to other creatives across the world, to ancestors, to visitors. In this podcast, they also spoke about the transformative nature of the Wharenui Harikoa: it transformed them as creatives, and it transforms the people experiencing it. They intend to take it on a worldwide tour so it may be coming near you at some point!
