I just came across this music clip by Nigel Stanford, and I wanted to share it with you. For his newly released album Solar Echoes, he teamed up with Shahir Daud to create this amazing video. Using water, fire, magnets and all kinds of elements, they made the sounds visible. The notes influence some metallic powder, creating patterns, or change the flow of water ; all of this through vibrations only. Sounds are usually invisible to us and we can decipher them only through our auditory system (with the help of our brain). But here, we can also see them. This combination of the senses allows us to immerse ourselves deeper into the music. Of course it would be even better if we could see it for real instead of watching it sitting behind our screens but I find the idea very interesting. If we are used to see some representations of sound or music, it is not everyday that we can see it modifying matter instantaneously and in 3D.
